Nathan Rooney enjoyed an impressive 2009/10 season having previously suffered injury troubles in the previous campaign, not only captaining the Academy but also sometimes the Reserves even when it has featured a strong senior contingent.

Telford-born Rooney has also enjoyed international call-ups to the Republic of Ireland under-19 squad.

Nathan is from Telford where he attended Thomas Telford School. He played in the school team that won the National School's U14 trophy at Molineux in 2005, and he also done well academically. Nathan has been at Wolves since he was eight years old.

He graduated from the Academy to the senior ranks for the start of the 2010/11 season and was set to be part of the Development Squad at the club.
