James is a local lad, born in Birmingham, who signed for Wolves in February 2006 having previously had an unsuccessful trial.
He has worked hard to gain his scholarship at the club and it is his positive attitude that is one of the key reasons for his tremendous progress.
A former pupil from Leasowes School, he played for his school team, Halesowen & District District teams, and also West Midlands County Schools FA at U14, U15 and U16.
Spray's form at the start of the 2009/10 season saw him named as a substitute for the first team game with Wigan and, while unused, thoroughly enjoyed the experience as Wolves won their first top flight away game for 25 years.
He followed this up with another appearance as an unused substitute in the Carling Cup tie with Swindon and started the season as a regular in the Premier Reserve League.
